The Cedartown Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society recently took their annual educational trip.

After months of fundraising with candy sales and saving for their trip, they were able to visit New York City and toured many famous landmarks. Thirty-eight students, five sponsors, and 11 chaperones flew in to LaGuardia and started with a bus tour of the city en route to the beautiful Statue of Liberty and the historic Ellis Island.

Following dinner together, they attended “Stomp” onBroadway, a unique theatre musical of choreographed percussion, movement andphysical comedy.

The next day the group toured by bus and saw the 9-11 site, Central Park,John Lennon Memorial and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The group also enjoyed a wonderful tour of the NBC Studios and shopped in the area. Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum was their next stop viewing many historical figures, famous entertainers, and sports figures followed by an authentic Chinese dinner.

Afterwards, the group toured the Empire State Building, riding up 86 floors to the breathtaking observation deck for a beautiful view of the New York skyline.

On their last day in New York, the students travelled to Hoboken, N.J. to tour the famous Carlos Bake Shop from the television show, “CakeBoss.” After some delicious snacks, the NJHS group went to Radio City Music Hall for a guided tour of the facility learning its history and meeting one of the Rockettes.

After shopping in Chinatown, the group returned to LaGuardiafor their flight home.

The students, chaperones and sponsors had a wonderful, fast-paced and educational trip.

Planning has already started for next year’s trip.
