The Cedartown Recreation Department had only enough players for two basketball teams this year, according to Joe Colquitt III.

The recreation league has a boys team in the seven-and-eight-year-old division this season and a girls team in the nine-and-10-year-old league.

According to Colquitt, the boys will play regular season games against a team from Rockmart, as well as teams from the First Baptist Church league in Cedartown. Colquitt said they are also trying to schedule more regular season games.

The girls are playing in the Rome league and has plans to represent Cedartown in the upcoming Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) District tournament.

“These kids are doing such a great job of representing the City of Cedartown,” Colquitt stated.

Members of the boys team are Dakota Matthews, Isaiah Johnson, Keyshawn Thomas, Camden Brown, Cam Bedford, Logan Smith, and Will Hughes. The assistant coach is Pat Johnson and the head coach is Chuck Bedford.

Members of the girls team are Marycille Brumby, Ava Allred, Harley McGee, Roslyn Blankenship, Emma Tuck, Alexas Poole, Lindsey Lee, and Carlie Holland. The assistant coach is Andy Tuck and the head coach is Cody Nichols.
