Mr. Walker

Mr. Thomas Meredith Walker, 71, of Rockmart passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1941 in Dallas, the son of the late Leonard James Walker and the late Irene Asherbranner Walker.

Mr. Walker served in the United States Coast Guard and was a retired self-employed brick mason. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Dallas.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Gravett.

He is survived by his companion, Betty Duke of Rockmart; three daughters, Haley (Tim) Cook of Newnan, Teresa (Allen) Stoker of Dallas, Sharon (Eddie) Martin of Virginia; son, Thomas “Tommy” (Jackie) Walker of Dallas; brother, Vernon Walker of Lindale; three sisters, Susan (Sammy) Graham and Joan Walker both of Dallas, and Lawanna (Ray) Smith of Marietta.

Six grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 29 at 2 pm in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Tibbitts and Rev. Merle Barron officiating.

Interment services followed in the family lot of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by

the Brown-Wright American Legion Post #12 Honor Guard.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: James Byram, Scott Hayes, Jeff Gravett, Randall Gravett, Tommy Walker and Tim Hayes.
