Mrs. Carolyn Faye Allen James, 70, of Rockmart passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012.

She was born on March 28, 1942 in Cedartown, daughter of the late Atha Louise Brock Allen and the late Milton Woodrow Allen.

She was a retired educator with the Polk School District having taught at the Rockmart Middle School and was a nurse prior to teaching. Mrs. James was a member of the Rockmart Presbyterian Church where she was involved with the Back-Pack Ministry and was a Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Robert (Bob) Louis James on February 28, 1982.

Survivors included two sons, Robby James and his wife Maryann and Ricky James all of Rockmart; step-children, Kathy James Patison of Conroe, Texas, Bobby James of New Waverly, Texas, Alan James of Houston, Texas and Roger James of Spring, Texas; three brothers, Jerry Allen and James Allen both of Cedartown and Lee Allen of Centerville. Seven grandchildren also survived.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 17 at 2p.m. in the Rockmart Presbyterian Church with Rev. Maryellen Hittel officiating. Interment services followed in the family lot of Polk Memory Gardens.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Everett James, Perry Nettles, Hal Floyd, Jerry Allen, Lester Rowland, Robby James, Ricky James and Lee Allen.

The following gentlemen served as honorary pallbearers: James Allen, Cal James and Larry Pittman.
