The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County this weekend, Aug. 25-26:

Saturday

1. Marietta Street UMC Church will hold a Love Thy Neighbor prayer meeting at 10 a.m. Aug. 25. The church is located at 401 Robert Parks Blvd., Cedartown. All are invited to come and pray for churches, communities, homes, schools and businesses. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the prayer.

2. Shady Grove United Methodist Church will host a barbecue Saturday, Aug. 25, from 11 a.m. until the food is gone. Plates are $7 and will include chicken or ribs, baked beans, slaw, sliced bread and cake. The church is located at 3693 Rome Hwy. (Hwy. 101), in Aragon. 3. Pine Bower Baptist Church will have its Awana kickoff on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 4-6 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy fun, food and friends. Awana classes will resume on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 29. For more information, please contact the church at 770-748-3252.

Sunday

1. The Arrow 25 Year Club will hold their dinner party meeting on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. at Phat Phils in Draketown.

2. The annual Sutton Family Reunion will be held Sunday Aug. 26 at the Taylor Farm. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

3. . Friendly Baptist Church, 67 Friendly Baptist Church Rd, Cedartowon, will hold a benefit singing on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m. Special singers will be the Banks Family and The McVines Trio. All proceeds will go to Cathy Hudgins for her medical expenses and cancer treatment. Everyone is invited to attend.

4. Cedartown First United Methodist Church will hold a contemporary praise and worship service at 7 p.m. featuring "Steadfast"
