Hundreds of Cedartown residents attended the city's second annual Christmas tree lighting event on Thursday evening.

As the crowd chanted a countdown and the Cedartown High School band provided a drumroll, Cedartown Firefighter Daniel Scipper and his two-year-old daughter, Madison, plugged in the tree.

Prior to the official lighting, the Covenant Christian School Children's Choir and the Cedartown High School Band performed Christmas music.

The next downtown holiday event will be the Cedartown Christmas Parade. It takes place on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m.
