There will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and each team will consist of four players. The cost to enter is $100 per person or $400 per team.
We are having this tournament to raise money. We need money to go away to a team camp, Coach Scott Jackson said. Going away to a camp will allow us to get all the kids together to concentrate on football and hopefully allow the team to bond together and become closer and more like a family. So, going to camp is really important but in order for us to go we need money and support from the community.
As Jackson stated, money raised at the tournament will go toward the Bulldogs football program, using the money to go away to camp and buying the team equipment.
Head Coach Mark Loudermilk, entering his first year as the head taskmaster at CHS, is hoping to take the team away to camp at Shocco Springs which is in Talladega, Ala.
The kids have worked hard this summer and have showed a lot of effort, Jackson said. We need the continued support of the players parents and the community. We think going away to camp is very important and we hope the community supports the golf tournament we are having and we can use that money to go to camp.
Far as the tournament itself, Jackson said the list of participants is steadily growing.
Weve had a pretty decent amount of people sign-up to play but we expect a lot more to sign-up as the date gets closer, Jackson said. We really hope for and need a good turnout so we can have enough money to go away to camp. I dont think that can be emphasised enough.
Some of the coaches will even be participating in the golf tournament, giving locals a chance to mingle with the new coaching staff.
The coaches that like to play golf will play, Jackson said. Ill be playing and coach Loudermilk will play and coaches Denver Pate and Brent Rickman will play.
All participants at the golf tournament will receive a cart, range balls, Bojangles breakfast, golf shirt, bag towel and lunch.
