For having not grown up in Cedartown, Dr. Ben Anderson took the job of caring passionately for the people of it, and the rest of the state, with a heartfelt seriousness that made an impact on the community he lovingly served.

The longtime physician, known as “Dr. Ben” to many of his patients, died last month after a brief illness. He was the first black doctor to open a private practice in Northwest Georgia.
